Rainier FFA had 9 students showing animals at the Washington State Fair and 11 students for livestock judging. We placed 3rd and 14th in livestock judging out of 58 teams. Keanna Vermillion placed 9th overall individually. We won 1st place for best educational exhibit (first time ever earning this placing). We received grand champion in herdsmanship for beef and rabbits. AnnaLisa received reserve champion in fitting and showing with beef and Riley Hanna received champion in fitting and showing and also won overall showman in rabbits. All students brought in many rosettes and ribbons. We had a student with Scottish Highland calves that became the talk of the fair grounds and brought in thousands of spectators to our area. Lots of help from parents throughout the fair made the event smooth running and the kids had fun. The Beef department was also the recipient of the "Black and White" award which is a very special award given to only one exhibit at the whole fair by the fair commissioner that is rating the fair. This is a very high honor.
