When Life is Firmly in the Air, Sing!
Hello, boys, girls, parents, friends and families,
This is a selection of songs meant to zap the blues out of the problems Covid 19 is causing. Sadly, this will not cure sickness from the virus, but it could help us deal with having to stay home and stay away from our friends. The words can remind us that we Americans are strong, that we can give up some freedom for the better of others, that we will outlast the virus.
Just as making noise to support the brave medical responders, you can sing to let yourself know you support yourself. Besides that, singing is just socially acceptable yelling. People will respond much differently when you use singing instead of screaming and yelling to express your feelings! So, breathe deep and let it rip!
(Parents- Disclaimer: these recordings are of children singing; one could say the sound is like "Kid's Bop". They will not sound like the original recordings. However, they do have great value for your child's music education. Because the words and notation are displayed, students can see that tones, like words, can be written. Their eyes will see what their ears hear. Looking at music notation can develop pattern recognition and lineal tracking. Music's two dimensional notation, pitch and duration, stretches the brain's sensory comprehension. Please spend some time with your child on these songs from Essential Elements Music Class, a rich resource to rely on for music education.)
