Both the 2022-23 FAFSA and WASFA will open on October 1. This will allow students to apply for college admission and financial aid at the same time. Students and families will use their 2020 tax information on either the FAFSA or WASFA.   Students can complete the FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov or the WASFA at www.readysetgrad.org/wasfa.  The colleges that students apply to will use the information they provide on their financial aid applications to determine their eligibility for the scholarship. For more information regarding the scholarship requirements, visit www.collegebound.wa.gov.
Also see the FAFSA tab in the Menu above for information on the FAFSA and our FAFSA night happening at RHS on Nov. 9th at 6pm
The SAT is offered twice per Year at RHS, and regularly at other schools in the surrounding area including Olympia High School, Timberline High School, Tumwater High School, and Bethel High School. Students can register for any SAT that fits their schedule. We recommend College Bound students and those students who are undecided plan to take the SAT once at the end of their Junior Year, and during the late summer or early fall of their Senior Year. Rainier High School will offer the SAT typically during November and May.
    Students can register at collegeboard.org

"Studies continue to reveal the growing jobs crisis in the United States due to an obvious skills gap. According to workboots.com, 10 million new workers are needed by 2020. Currently, 600,000 skilled jobs are going unfilled, yet 52 percent of our workforce is having trouble finding a good job. This data also shows that Americans believe skilled professions are important, but they don’t want to work those jobs. The connection is not being made, and now is the time to make it. There’s never been a better time to be skilled. It’s basic supply-demand economics, and demand is presently in the trade column."
  • Scholarship Information
(Information will be emailed to students and parents when we receive it)
Scholarships offer money for college that does not need to be repaid.  Scholarships can be based on whatever criteria are important to the organization or individual offering the funds.  Never pay someone to search scholarships for you!
Start Early!  Don't wait until the last minute to complete the application.
Proofread your application.  Ask someone else to proofread it as well.
Don't Procrastinate.  Deadlines are final.  Your application will not be considered if it is late.
Take Responsibility for your application.  Keep a copy for your records.
Watch your mail and email.  Most scholarship committees will communicate with you regarding your application through mail or email.
New!  Each college and university website will provide a Net Price Calculator on their website which will provide you with an estimate of the actual costs to attend their school.  Check their website!
Don't forget to ask about scholarships offered by professional organizations and unions that family members belong to, and see us in the counseling center for information on scholarships being offered by our local community civic organizations and foundations!
